[ALOCHONA] Re: For them

Dear Alochoks

Brother Zubair reminds us again of a common point raised by some on
every side of the political arena nowadays –

Why blame only Hasina and Khaleda? Why not blame our institutions too?

An important point. Our institutions must be blamed too and
strengthening reforms are needed in abundance.

For me however there is a desperate need to keep the focus on Hasina
and Khaleda – alongside institutional reform.

Here are five fast reasons –

1. We Bangladeshis easily understand cheap symbolism. Hasina and Khaleda are the symbols of much that is wrong in Bangladesh.
2. There is no evidence that if either return as PM they will
give us reforms. They cannot return slyly by the back door.
3. We need clear examples which warn remind future leaders of
consequences. Hasina and Khaleda are the best examples.
4. Hasina and Khaleda, their supporters and their agendas remain
the main obstacles to reform in BNP and AL.
5. The cult of personality must be attacked. The cult of Hasina
and Khaleda must be attacked relentlessly.

And, to be clear, the two worst institutions of Bangladesh are –

The institution of Bongobondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the
institution of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman.

These two individuals need to deinstitutionalized and reinstated as
great, but flawed, leaders who are also human beings.

Our irreverence should be proportionate to the reverence used by
politicians to twist the truth.

The days of polite silence are over.

The he ll with Hasina and Khaleda.
