Netizens like Mr Sitangshu Guha have indeed the right to say, "Yes, I had supported Iraq war & Bush and still I do". He asks, "Any problem?". Yes, there was a problem when he used a Human Rights Forum of Bangladesh to congratulate George W Bush for his re-election to the post of President, United States. This carried an impression that this was the view of the Forum whose current President is Prof Ajoy Roy.
I am one of those who are not interested in what Mr Guha did in the past in the US presidential poll. But it's ridiculous to note that he finds no "no difference between so-called (sic) socialist & Islamists with respect to Bangladesh". But that's his perception of history. Without drawing a simile, I remember CPI(M) founder polit bureau member, the late M Basavapunnaiah's comments on Arun Shourie's tirade against CPI in 1942 when CPI made a blunder in shelving anti-imperialist tasks to step up anti-fascist campaign during the Second World War. MB ridiculed Shourie as "stupidly ignorant". Shourie's article was published in four (or six) parts in the now-defunct Illustrated Weekly of India. Its the then editor Pritish Nandi carried a portion of MB's rejoinder. CPI(M) mouthpiece published the full text.
I repeat I am not drawing a simile between Shourie and Mr Guha.
