Thank you Farida Apa for the extra information. You could rightly see, I did not intend to seriously confront the Religion-traders because like you I too realise that the topic is outdated. I wrote the piece to redicule them when they admired the Arch Bishop of Canterburry for supporting part of Sharia being a Christian leader and defamed Hasan Mahmood and Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury for failing to appreciate Sharia being Muslim. Re. Hujurs being laughing stock to common man, it is my personal experience from my childhood in the village. The reason was : Hujurs lived happily with rich food and religious alms without having to work hard for their living. As the topic of religion as such, does not have any attraction for me, I am refraining from explaing other points you raised.
