Different people support a candidate for different reasons. Alongside
X-tian evangelists and right wing extremists, many self-declared
even atheists & freethinkers (readers may remember some in mm forum
itself)--for instance--supported G. Bush in 2004 'coz they thought he
was the best-suited candidate to curve on Islamic terrorism. Most
liberals, however, sided with Kerry. To the contrast, many American
Muslims didn't vote for democrat Al Gore because his running mate Joe
Liberman was a Jew (a nonsense logic for sure), while many even
orthodox Jews voted for Al Gore solely because of Joe.
Does it now mean that ALL Jews, ALL Muslims in America or ALL
atheists are stupids, or prejudiced? And what about those "desi" who
do not miss a chance to project themselves as a "freethinker"
or "secularist" yet who so zealously supported George W. Bush in 2004?
Let's be a bit more cautious against the temptation of generalizing (
especially common among desis--wheather brown or black?).
Yes, there are always exceptions.
