The Press leaked the news that Great Britain's Prince Harry was in
Afghanistan and, as a result of the leak, the government forced him
to return before his unit completed a tour of duty.
Now, Prince Harry is the darling of the media... a hero no less. He,
at least saw that, if there can be any heroes in this war business,
they are the ones who lost limbs and are faced with hardship for the
rest of their lives, without so much as a meaningful thank you from
the public.
Does this business make you nauseated?
My heart goes out to Prince Harry who has never and will never have
the freedom his countrymen take for granted. His life is at the mercy
of the fickle government, media and the more than fickle public who
are willing to be led around by the nose. The Harry story, like the
Obama story is another perfect example of the way we follow without a
thought.
The Prince should be able to serve in Afghanistan, if he so wishes.
If there is more of a danger to his unit because of his high profile,
then volunteers could be recruited. Volunteers would be lining up for
miles, for certain!! If there must be stupid wars, surely this poor
boy can be granted the basic freedom to follow his friends into
battle. if he dies, he will be, after all, just another poor boy
dying for nothing.
