I haven't looked into this discussion for sometime. In the study of
mechanics, there are some stages between Newton and present day quantum
mechanics. So caled Newton's laws of motion were actually discovered by
Galileo. After Newtonian Mechanics, there is Lagrangian, and finally
Hamiltonian Mechanics which forms the basis of Quantum Mechanics. William
Rowan Hamilton was an exceptional genius who never got the limelight. As Max
Planck was working on Black Body Radiation, he found out that two apparently
contradicting theories could be accommodated by his equation that become
famous soon, though he never believed in it. Then came Prince Louis de
Broglie with his solution to wave particle duality controversy. It was
derived from Einstein and Planck equations. It says any particle can
exhibit wave property. The particle does not have to be subatomic.
Moreover, there is the Bohr Correspondence Principle which states that in
the classical limit, quantum mechanics also yields classical results.
