RE: [mukto-mona] An article on bengali muslims

IRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto- mona/message/48363

Dear Mr. Akbar Hussain,

I like your views and value your thoughts expressed which demand deeper
considerations.
While I agree with you regarding religion's use for personal enlightenment but want
to know - if it works for you and me why can't it work for others. Then again, why it has
to suddenly become corrupt when we try to propagate it if it was a true enlightenment.
Propaganda is nothing but spreading information to promote a cause which can be either
good or bad and I do not think it has to be always beset with personal agenda, lies and
distortions if the propagandist is not a bigot but an enlightened person in its true sense
and has love for humanity besides willing to serve our society honestly.
I am fully with you that a philosophical life does not depend on ones religious views and
a life with serenity is a personal perception which can be attained by freedom from fear
and fables. Gibran's words are very correct, but I would better like the statement as "a
truly religious person need not embrace any religion."
Rest of your note is very sensible and your optimism in the end sounds strongly confident.
I have discussed the issues you touched upon in your last few lines, in my article 'REDEFINING RELIGION -1,2 & 3' published in Mukto-mona forum and invite you to read them if you find time.

Best Regards.
