[mukto-mona] CPM is afraid of poetical protest too

Yesterday, a police officer, presumably from the Muchipara Police Station in central Kolkata, knocked the residence-cum-office of editor & publisher of Bijalpa, Prasun Bhowmik, at 42 Scott Lane. He said he came under direction from the Intelligence Branch to know about Bijalpa.
Bijalpa has been a little magazine, mainly of Bengali poetry and published quite a few books.Literature aside, it published articles on social and political issues. It brought out booklets criticizing the abuse of power of the ruling party, CPI(M) and Left Front, after their anti-peasant roles in Singur and Nandigram. It continues these activities now also, but it has no connections with the Maoists.

The sudden police visit seems an attempt to gag the freedom of expression and democratic rights.

The attack on Jadavpur University students for their active association with the Matangini Mahila Samiti by trying to search their residence without search warrant and the raid on Bhowmik suggest that the state terror is on.
