I think we are attaching too much importance to authors like Humayun Ahmed and Sunil Gangopadhya. My discussion with Sunil in New York Book Fair prompted his comment about Taslima's wide acknowledgement due to her being çontroversial'and not because her writing standard, which according to Sunil is not high. Same thing said about Humayun Azad by Humayun Ahmed that Azad wrote in ugly or grotesque language. Both the authord Ahmed and Gangopadhya are products of the establishment and they reflect authority's mind. Nothing to be surprized about. I request all to accept that they are not worth giving any importance. I insist to say that there are many highly regarded literature which were banned when written or which remained unpublished, and there are many highly popular writers making millions (like Harold Robbins) who have been buried deep quite quickly. I support Humayun Ahmed because he has given us an opportunity to learn what he is; for telling us that he is not what the blind readers have made of him. Fazlul Alam now in London 22.07.2008
