[ALOCHONA] Ramadan Mubarak

Dear Alochok Mohammed

 

Thank you for the gentle reminder on the spirit of Ramadan – I embrace your reminder, and you, warmly.

 

I had intended to write earlier –

 

Politcians:

Mujib would have smashed you.

Zia would have crushed you.

Nazrul would have burned you.

And Rabindranath would have approved.

 

Without subtracting an atom from the content and spirit of your message I would like to add:

 

Abu Bakr Siddique was no mere citizen – he was a leader by virtue of his example and by virtue of the trust placed in him by his people.

 

For decades since the birth of my country our nation has suffered from insecurity, indignity, incompetence and immorality.

For decades our men have wept in Mecca and Medina, in Milad and Dua Mehfil, for Allah to help our nation.

For decades our people have displayed incalculable patience and tolerance and forgiveness of our leaders.

 

Today, after decades, when the leader of our prayers calls to Allah to help our nation, grown men burst into tears.

 

I unconditionally accept your definition of the spirit of Islam – that we should embrace all without condition.

But on my knees I beg you pray not for me and not for my family –

- spare those prayers for our leaders.

 

O Allah take your blessings from me and give them to our leaders. Help them more than you help me.

 

Leadership. Our skies weep for you.

Leadership. Our soil mourns for you.

Leadership. Our poor suffer for you.

Leadership. Our children deserve you.

 

I fast this month not for myself or for you or for anyone. I fast for our leaders – all of them.

I pray for their compassion, for their forgiveness, for their enlightenment and their intelligence.

For in Bangladesh, from a hundred thirty million examples, it is our leaders who make our individual efforts succeed or fail.

 

May Allah bless you, your family and all our brothers and sisters on Alochona.

While I falicitate you and all others on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan I also wish you and all to live with the spirit, of this month.   Islam's main spirit is submission to Allah the supreme creator and accept his ordainment. Prophetic traditions also teaches the same with much humbleness and compassion.    As we submit, complacency has no room, I can understand your stand against politicians but let not curse them in general rather we pray for them and all mankind towards the truth.  When Abu Bakr Siddique was asked to increase the state ration for a pious man he replied in negative and allowance remained same as others and said his piousness is between him and Allah. I beg you to uphold the true spirit of Islam in every aspect of our actions.
