In your article "The Religious Education of Muslim Women in Bangladesh" you wrote:- "One of the most well known among these reformist Ulama who showed significant concern for enhancing women's informal/household religious knowledge in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was the Deoband Madrasa-trained scholar Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanavi (1864-1943).  His encyclopedic work, Bihishti Zewar (The Ornaments of Paradise), was primarily aimed at women (although Maulana Thanavi strongly encouraged men to follow it as well) and contained a vast amount of extremely detailed religious prescriptions for conducting numerous daily religious and household activities and for purifying bodily, mental, and emotional states. Maulana Thanavi's emphasis on both Muslim men's and women's EQUAL obligations to seek knowledge and education was remarkably egalitarian for contemporary society, particularly the then worldview of many Indian Ulama and the Muslim elite"

 

Are you serious? Did you really read that dangerously nasty book? It legitimizes Instant Divorce even under compulsion, drug, alcohol, pain and joke and gets those wifves raped by stranger in the name of Hilla. It is a seriously anti-women and so anti-Islamic book. We also know what this "scholar" did to women suffering in the hands of cruel husbands during 1920 – 1930's. These helpless women could not afford the anti-Islamic and corrupt Sharia Law of "Khul". Finding no other way of getting rid of their beast husbands they started posing apostacy that automatically dissolves marriage by Hanafi law. Think!  How much they suffered and were desperate to pose leaving Islam ! The Indian mullas rushed to your "scholar" for solution. And what he did? He did not rescue the suffering sisters; he did not block the torturous husbands!  Instead, he issued a Fatwa discarding Hanafi Law and imported Maliki Law because wife's apostacy does not dissolve marriage. Such a butcher he was that he blocked the only way-out of suffering women and arranged for their virtual destruction in the name of Islam. Sad that he got respect and support from scholars like you.

 

I'm sad to say this is the character of Sharia-scholars - they never listen to human cries.      

 

Sir, people normally do not read these books and depend on scholars like you for justice and info; just like they blindly depend on doctors.

Now, if a doctor betrays patient what s/he can do?
