Life and Science By Dr. Zahoorul Haq (1922-1998) (Translated from Bangla; By Saroj Shabaj) In course of development of science so many of different types of queries and problems kept coming on the point of being raised and everyday the list of which got longer. Undoubtedly, time and again this question come alive in the minds of the scientists; whether the mystery of life is getting solved or due to creation of different problems influenced by science the mystery is getting more awful. But, perhaps the enigmatic 'signal-instructions" to wage war against incompleteness and the unknown mysteries are inscribed in the centre of the atoms of every living cell: it is definite that human beings would never want to change this instruction inscribed in the bio-cells.
Does 'soul' of human or animal, exist? If it exists then what is it? If it exists, in which part of the body does it exist? This type of questions is quite old. In philosophies and religions these questions are raised from many sides with attempts to answer. In several cases caught in the mesh of these complicated questions, in pursuit, humans dug heads deep in thoughts restless for answers: for freedom -- for light. On the other side, natural science created by human also endeavoured into this inquiry for a logical answer. In stages of development of physics, chemistry, botany and biology; sometimes even in the purview of material science these questions had emerged but for the sake of necessity of progress of natural science at one stage it was agreed, that it was better for the natural scientists not to apply the rules of material science into the areas of mind or soul. That means; the natural scientists had humbly accepted that their area of research was indeed limited; they have nothing to respond on the inquiries raised regarding human mind and spirit. Some had mentioned it all the same but in other words: that religious faith of a scientist and his work of science are altogether separate issues. As result of taking this kind of position of compromise and thus limiting their boundary of inquiry to some extent exclusive to the mundane material World; many scientists had unhesitatingly pursued their religious faith or so called belief of the spiritual world. At the same time, on the other side, regarding them who had been eager to enter into discourse about the spiritual World, a number of scientists looked upon them with suspicion. However, may be it is better to accept and truly to be honest, that a satisfactory answer for the one and all of the human insofar as to the queries of 'what and why' about human spirit, has not been conclusively found anywhere. For this reason, let it be mentioned first, that the questions raised in the beginning of the essay were not raised by me from the viewpoints of religion or philosophy. Because, even if any answer from those viewpoints are available, I shall not the rightful person to provide those answers. Taking the grounds from science, I felt the urge in me to raise those questions. Do these words sound ludicrous? I mean; is it irrelevant to raise these questions in the premise of the world of science? Is it impossible to give logical answers to these questions through scientific methods of adjudication and analysis? Is it insane, at least to take any effort to do so? Perhaps, only a few decades earlier, an attempt to try find a scientific answer to such questions could appear insane. In the second half of the twentieth century even the person most nonchalant about science is compelled to observe, that influence of science on human life is increasing day by day. Here the word 'life' has been used to mean, one and all of which are associated with our livelihood – food, clothes, traveling, communication, entertainment, news and media, comforts of an appropriate living conditions, such as; accommodation, healthcare etc. etc. Doubtlessly, application of science and technology is gradually changing the appearance and characteristics of our day to day life and livelihood. In spite of that, I would like to term these influences of science and technology on human life is 'indirect' in nature. Because, it is apparent, that in general terms the impact or influence of scientific progress had not been quite revolutionary on human thoughts or consciousness underlying at the root of human perception about existence. As the least case: not in many. General impression is; influence of religion prevails not only on the minds of the larger section of human population but the impact and influence of it is all-pervading. But, it is also undeniable that side by side with the changes happening in the nature of day to day life, mental environment and horizons of human thoughts are gradually taking new forms. Moreover, it has become impossible to make a complete list of how many types of fresh social, economic and moral situations and problems, science keep on creating. Keeping on creating these types of social and moral problems science was gradually coming nearer to human life, very near to the level of making a close connection; but having said that, yet in human consciousness, life and science stay as two separate streams of thoughts. As such, it seems that the transformability on the expressions of the former as the results of progress of the latter is quite little. In the second half of the twentieth century; epoch-making progress made in the material world such as use of nuclear energy, space-travel, amazing systems of communication etc. took on to human beings, as if to reach at the doorsteps of an entire new world. It appeared; as if there was no end to these astonishing achievements and human beings will begin another new era of existence. Nevertheless, at the same time, many could not realize, progress being made in the fields of medical and life science picked the level of human existence to which strata. As result of direct contribution of physics and chemistry the rapid progress achieved in the field of biology has raised the level of human existence to such stratus, that from such a position it is difficult now to depict a picture inferring the extent of growth and development of human being, even for the near future. May be it is time to stipulate that science has entered into human life and there is no separation exist between life and science. We have reached the era where there is straight influence of science on the perceptions of human existence and consciousness. Citation of one or two examples shall clarify the circumstances. During last few years, surgical procedures undertook on human heart, lungs, kidney etc. and success of medical treatment in these regards have made incredible advancements. Even in some cases medical scientists are carrying out special experiments whether such or other afflicted vital organs of human body can be replaced with the healthy organs obtained from another person. It has become a very simple case now to replace a dysfunctional eye with another healthy eye taken from an immediately deceased person. Many medical scientists are assuming that in the same way it is going to be handy situation to properly preserve vital organs and parts of immediate dead bodies in cold rooms and easily use them in future for others. We are already aware of many cases of kidney donation and replacements. It is easy because every human has two of this organ. For a living human it is indeed impossible to donate heart, lungs or brain in lifetime but it is not going to be quite surprising if in near future sale or donation of almost all organs or parts of immediately dead human body become a common practice. Not only that; as result of rapid progress in physics and chemistry, almost everyday new varieties of materials having many newer properties are being invented: information mentioned about various types of alloys, plastic, nylon, artificial wool, and silk etc. may be remembered. Uses of objects made with these materials have begun to change the form of our day to day life. Some scientists are contemplating that it may not be impossible after all to make artificial parts of human body using these new types of materials. Meanwhile, information is received of amazing success in connecting small sized vessels outside of heart or lungs; or fixing of one-way valve. And, more amazing information than those are; the life scientists have begun to hope that by culturing the cell-tissue obtained from different parts and organs of human body the respective organ or appendage may be regenerated. A type of reptile called Salamander can regenerate the lost limb or part of its body itself. Growing of the tail of house-lizard is very common. Frogs do not have this type of capability; but in recent times even frogs have been able to regenerate the lost part of its body under suitable conditions. Life scientists are contemplating that it may not be impossible for humans to acquire this type of capability. If that be realized, then it is definite it will even greatly change the definition of 'death'. What if the fact is to be mentioned that till today a simple resolution on what is the phenomenon called death, has not been made. Stopping of function of heart or lungs? Or, ceasing of brain's activity? Whatever it is, firstly: nobody shall easily agree with the present meaning of death; because who knows that it will not be impossible but probably to avail the opportunity to replace the stopped or damaged organ. Secondly; probably there may be nothing at all that may be termed as 'final death'. Because, possibly preserving the dead body in a very low temperature conditions, it could be given a renewed life in future with the application of newer opportunities created in course of scientific progress. Who knows? Judging on the present inability of science will it be logical and ethical to pass on a conclusive judgment now on the potentialities surrounding the conditions of life? But anyway this went a little about uncertain future. In near future procedures which are about to come very much within the perimeter of reality are abandoning of damaged or decaying organ and placement of preserved ones of the dead. In those cases existence of temporary death will be for that period of time only which will be required to find a healthy organ and its replacement. Off course it will be required to keep the vital organs of the temporary dead body functioning or 'alive' during that intermediate period of time; as it has become a regular and normal practice to keep the heart or lungs functioning artificially during surgery. And if, with the help of cell-culture the procedures of creation of particular organs become a reality, then perhaps it will be observed that on apprehension of adverse situation every (wealthy?) person will get the duplicate second generation of one's heart, lungs even brain made during lifetime and keep them preserved in the cold-room at their own houses or at the "life-bank". The rate in which disease of heart is spreading, it will not be surprising to find people getting under intoxicating influence racing for making of a duplicate of one's heart, in advance. By all means, probably ahead of that situation successful medical treatment of heart diseases will evolve.*(Already the issue of abandoning of dysfunctional heart and replacement with healthy one has come to the stage of reality: in January 1968 the first successful surgery of this type performed under the leadership of Dr. Bernard is a memorable event in the history of science.) From the above discussion whether those few questions related to 'soul' get sharply pointed? The person who at present meaning is 'dead' due to failure of the heart, supposing after an hour or a half with the help of replacement with a new heart (which may be the duplicated or triplicate generation of his/her own heart, or an 'undamaged' heart of a person who died due to renal failure), perhaps he or she is brought back to life, question may pertinently arise, during the period of that one or half hour what was the soul (if anything like that since had dwelled) of that so-called dead person doing? Whether it existed within the dead-body and waked up again with receiving of the new heart? Or whether it dwelled outside during that time and expressed itself again on return? Whether the soul in the second situation is the same previous one? Or, is it the old soul belonging to the other person whose heart had been placed? And if the heart is the preserved duplicated or triplicate generation of heart of the same 'dead' person then in that case whether the soul stepped out at the time of death and took shelter in the second heart? Or, there will be two souls of a resuscitated person? These questions are not being raised either to create an unnecessary smokescreen of mystery or to mock philosophies or religious thoughts. From ancient times the question about 'soul', afterlife, good and evil etc. arose in human mind and in an account these are very much of real problems. Because, many people consider it to be very important to have the answers to these questions in order to live their life, also in the World history many ups and downs have occurred based on these types of questions. It is said afore: as the very result of grasp of science moving in deep and deeper into human life, shapes of these questions in human mind are bound to take on real and scientific form. Problem does not end here. Creation of artificial life in the laboratory is gradually coming to the level of real possibility. Possibility of growth of human embryo in test tube using the seeds taken from men and women has been successfully proved in But still those were superficial observations. Proceeding deeper into the question as mentioned before, the scientists have begun to strongly raise the issue as to why different parts of human body such as kidney or liver will not be able to be recreated with the help of the similar procedures of cell-culture. A French scientist already predicted; that it is not only the issue about recreation of the small-small parts which may be almost considered as done, what is indeed being looked onward for future when one day with the help of cell-culture even recreation of the whole of the human body identical to one and the same persons using the original cells taken from the respective individuals will be possible. Then what will be left to be worried for? At the utmost, due to a cause of sever accident if any untimely death would occur, then immediately the duplicate body of that person made beforehand may be able to continue to act as identically as before "joining in his work" with his duplicated healthy body. And if, one identical "second body" could be made, why not in that case more in number? If duplicates (or triplicates or quadrupled) are recreated from the cell of a person whether soul will exist in each of those new additions? If more than one new humans are recreated from the cell taken from an immediately died person will each of those living bodies have soul? Where had been those souls; and whether those were fragmented parts of the first soul? In this very context question arises, if soul exists in human body then where is it actually situated? Probably it will be astonishing to hear that from ancient times many tried to say that human soul existed in a small cage of bone located just below the brain. The ancient people meant that soul is the very thing which controls and commands human thoughts and physical activities of human beings. More amazing than that is, according to modern inventions of the life-scientists, the assumption of the ancient people regarding the location of soul in human body has been partly supported. Because, investigating deep into the topics of intelligence, character, sexual behaviour of animals etc., the life-scientists have come to know that respective forms and characteristics of almost all physical activities of animals are caused due to the secretion of different types of very strange and mysterious fluids from the pituitary gland, and that, this wonder gland is indeed located just below the brain. This gland is connected to the brain with very fine vessels. As soon as it get commands from the brain the pituitary gland produces special types of chemical fluids and transmits them to the different parts of the human body. It may be said in other words that commands of the brain gets transmitted to the different sections of the human body in the form of chemical fluids. For sometime now we are being informed of the names of these fluids, in general as 'hormones'. The pituitary gland also has partial capability of controlling itself, for this reason, less or more in quantity of those hormones may also be produced from that 'factory'. Moreover, on the other hand, sometimes from the hormones produced at the main pituitary gland new types of additional hormones may also be produced. In brief, it may be said that the life-scientists do not find any ongoing activity in a living being, which is not being controlled by one or the other of these hormones. Then could it not be assumed that the main source of the hormones is suggestive to where the soul dwells? One of the chemical fluid secreted from the pituitary gland controls sexual behaviour and regenerative process of the living beings. Another hormone is responsible for the volume of growth of the body. Obviously, in cases of deficiency of these required hormones astonishing results have been achieved by supplementing these specific hormones collected from outside sources. But, more than that, the question is, wherefrom those wonder fluids get those amazing properties? Which mystery is hidden in the structural pattern and feature of those substances by which they are able to efficiently perform various distinct activities of the body? All these fundamental queries of life science have been resolved up to a great extent with the application of new methodologies of modern physics and chemistry. Now scientists have definitively learnt that the main ingredient of protoplasm or chromosome is an amazing chemical substance named 'Dioxyribo Nucleic Acid' or in short DNA. The form of construction of this wonder substance is helical and inside of a large DNA molecule its atoms made of different components are arranged in a very complex system. In spite of its extreme complexity, at some earlier time, with the help of modern statisticians the life-scientists have already been able to know the specific system of the forms of construction of the DNA, and also they have come to realize that the original mystery of hereditary lineage is intrinsic in the very pattern of these arrangements. What will be the feature of the eye, face, nose, complexion, voice, behaviour, etc. of any living being; all of these have been written with few 'alphabets' in the structure of this DNA. In this specific case off course the 'alphabets' are just few chemical substances. Advance system of analysis of modern scientific processes, have enabled the life scientists to become partly successful in reading the instructions for future which are inscribed using the atoms of the DNA; that means, analyzing a living cell taken from an embryo it has become possible to infer before birth what may be the features of the to be born child in future. And more important possibilities than that is, if one day it becomes possible to read all the instructions for future inscribed on the atoms of the DNA, then that may make possible also one day when humans might be able to acquire the ability to rewrite, rearrange the appropriate instructions on the atoms of the DNA, according to wish. In simple words; either from the time when human existence is at the state of embryo in mother's womb or may be undergoing growth in the artificial 'test tube', it may become possible to control the character of the future child up to a great extent. Again returning to the old problem then may be the question could be asked in this way: is it the specific form of construction of the DNA and its chemical signal-language; is actually the soul of the living being? Importance of chemical signal-language has been specifically found to be present in another vital organ of the living beings. How the brain of living beings, particularly of higher forms of the living beings exactly works, in this regard, valuable information have been gathered just from before some days. It is not possible to elaborate here, even in brief, about all of excellent works of research done on systems of function of the brain. Only a few from them may be mentioned here. Connecting electric wires in a specific way with different areas of the brain it has been possible to prove that memories concerning different topics or experience are stored in different specified areas of the brain. For example; electrically exciting a specified point of the brain, a particular memory could be recalled repeatedly, even the totally lost memory of the person under experiment was also definitively, thoroughly, recalled. The scientists are contemplating that, with these processes enhancing capacity of human brain; the appearance of human society could be changed to some extent. But, many more of such unprecedented information has been gathered. Connecting electric wires with specific areas of the brain such 'memories' could also be created and impregnated into the brain which have never happened in the life of that particular person. If that becomes possible then in that case, it will not be difficult for the humans to acquire false or baseless experience. Contemplating about the possibility of this unprecedented capability of human brain, the scientists and sociologists have already begun to feel happy about it. Because, possibly, it may become matters of just few hours of medical treatment to transform somebody into a happy person implanting happy memories or experience from outside into the brain of an unhappy person. In abodes of scientists and philosophers, plenty of discourse and debates are present regarding what really are called faith and education. But, using this possible process, if easily and in a very short period of time implanting 'education' or various different capabilities into human brains of illiterate person comes into practice, then the appearance of schools and colleges, types of books and magazines; in a word, what will be the new and unprecedented form of the intelligent-world, imagining about it will undoubtedly excite the readers. But off course, it is necessary to keep in mind that, also there will be possibilities of misuse of this probable process; because, one day, the future rulers of the state may become excessively eager to use the capability for making of only those 'typical die-cast' people having inspiration of a particular thought, whelmed of a particular faith or having expertise of only few types of jobs. Whatever it is, the scientists have recently gathered credible information as to exactly how memory, experience, emotion, education, etc. are stored in brain-cells. Important component of the brain-cell is also large and very complex atom of nucleic acid; and the origin of memory and education are due to the events of permanent changes occurring in the atomic structure of nucleic acid of the brain-cells present at specific regions. In other words, any experience, emotion, thoughts and phenomenon entering the brain through the five senses are continuously causing changes in the form and structure of the components of the brain-cells; and those structurally transformed atoms or groups of atoms constitute "memories". In this very context the problem of inheritance also comes into consideration. Whether memory or education could be transmitted from parents to the child through procreation? For long, the life-scientists believed that it was not possible. Off course, anatomical structure and few streams of "character" are transmitted to children through specific structural pattern of chromosome. But, memory, education is acquired by each of the new living beings from the individual experience of environment and education gathered through the medium of brain; and that has been the perception till today. Modern scientists in recent times have begun to suspect this idea to be true. If memory, education etc. are responsible for making of different formations of brain-cells; then why at least to some extent also those reformed atoms will not get transmitted to the next generation through the process of procreation? Conducting quite amazing research on a type of 'flat worm', common descent of "Planaria de Tigrina"; a scientist has made very important discoveries. For procreation these worms do not need sexual activity; just from a severed part of this worm it procreates fast to reach stage of adulthood. After providing a specific 'experience' (or education) with the help of light and electricity to one of this breed of worm for sometime, it was severed into two parts cutting at the middle. Looking into it thereafter, two new living beings were immediately found after the growth of a new head at the tail part of the severed worm; and it was observed, that in the brain of the both, the experience gathered in previous life was equally present. It may be said; what is it to be astonishing about when experience of previous life is intact in the brain-cell of the second generation worm born at the head portion of it? But how the memory of previous life got transmitted into the brain of that second generation worm born creating new brain at the tail part of it? This experiment not only pointed out the possibility of hereditary transmission of the transformed brain cells, it also made the scientists conscious about the possibility of involvement of all the living beings in hereditary preservation and propagation of experience or creation. Off course in the ladder of evolution the Homo sapiens are at much higher level than the flat worm, but needless to say, by raising this type of negative question, enquiry and enthusiasm of the scientists cannot be subdued. Particularly, the fact which always gives pain in the minds of life-scientists and the sociologists, that among the living species it takes too much of a long time for the human beings to gain education and adulthood. Off course this difficulty has been created by humans by themselves, for making civilization more and more complex. But if with the help of scientific methods, humans could set in motion automatic succession from generation to generation of at least a portion of education, then just within a very short time where the speed of human evolution and features of its environment would end up to, is difficult to imagine. (If the readers still remember the fundamental inquiries related to 'soul', then whether this question may be raised at this point — is the soul might be the system of atomic organization of the components of the body?) Because, the question about soul is being raised repeatedly, let not the readers presume that, the problems of the mental environment only would take the most complicated form due to intimate mingling of life with science. Humans must have to bring in new definition and methods of adjudication and analysis in the area of faith and philosophy of life prevailing so far and for long. It is mentioned earlier, the effect of science is conspicuously changing the form of the society and little of which may well be presumed now, which type of a new wind is going to blow also in family and personal lives, in the very near future. But, it will not be easy to find satisfactory answer to all the questions which are going to get very sharp in the small periphery of our private and family life and even in our national life. It was mentioned earlier, may be in near future it would be possible to replace and use the damaged lungs, heart even the brain obtaining the necessary parts from dead body of another human. Undoubtedly, by doing so, the ailing person will be resuscitated to live a new life. But, it may as well introduce all new problems into the life of that person, making it an issue to think about. It had been said that human activity, conduct and character is controlled from the 'mind'. Whether mind is placed in the heart? If that is correct, then whether the conduct of the human being whose heart has been replaced will remain same as before? That means, whether the person who has been cured will continue to remain to be having the same personility? In case of replacement of the brain, should not this question become more real? Because it has been observed earlier that memory, experience, education etc. indeed remain amassed in the structural patterns formed by the brain cells. Then, whether the personality of the human with the replaced brain would remain to exist as the same as the previous person? That is to say; would not there be truly to be two personalities in the external face of the same person? For example: would the person who is placed with the new brain carrying history of previously stored memory, experience and education of the other person; be able to recognize his own wife? Even if he might be able to recognize, will he be able to love her same as before? For his inability to do so, could he be blamed? On the other side; character, habit and practice of the person himself may suddenly change to such a great extent that apparently the wife might not feel the same person very much to be her 'own husband'. Incase that happens; reviving of life may not be a happy experience at all, and it may get into a situation of doing something just for the sake of living. (Perhaps the problem would be solved changing memory in certain portions of the brain with the help of electricity or in other words, making it specifically suitable for the changed circumstances.) But, these were just about extreme situations. More commonly, perhaps prolonging of healthy life with continuous change and replacement of limbs and appendages of the body may become convenient method of living. Indeed who would be that person carrying heart of one not his own and the brain of the other? Whether that person with top to bottom borrowed limbs and appendages of body would have the real original entity of his own? Due to influence of the present complexities of civilization already a number of people, particularly the poets and artists are suffering from the problems of individuality and entity. Why I have come to being? What am I doing? Why am I doing that I am doing? Where am I heading to? What is the real objective of life? On top of it – who am I? Being wary of relentless complexities of civilization, these types of questions are being raised at the top of their voice, time and again, particularly from those who are having sensitive minds. Schizophrenia or mental illnesses of split personality are spreading fast day by day. It is worrying to think about the terrifying nature of the problem of entity which might emerge in future when a human child would be born in a test tube. What would be the child's nationality? Who would be his/her parents? Will the child have any religion? Will the child get the right to vote? If the child does not feel any love or responsibility for anybody, could he/she be blamed for that? Would the number of this type of people go on increasing in the society? In which kind of peculiar environment the future poets and artists would be living and upon which kind of sense and sensibility their work of creation would be based; the poets and artists of present times might like to begin now to make amazing speculations and imaginations about it. With the unavoidable advancement of science, the future time in its unbelievable form is approaching at an irresistible speed: concerning that; deep, responsible considerations and contemplations, and strong application of power of our imagination have become a case of extreme necessity. Because, there is no reason to keep on believing that whichever abilities science will be able to create, all of that would be good and happy for our life. Off course and it is certainly correct, concept of good and evil (right and wrong) would be changed to a great extent before aforementioned possibilities would come to the strata of reality. When those times would arrive then upon which perspective of eternal wellbeing, peace and happiness, the human society would evaluate to choose as to which of the abilities of science are to be accepted and which are to be forsaken? Whether human society has any common aim or ideology which is good and right for all of the human beings, for all of the countries and for all of the times; and therefore desirable? Exactly, this is which and truly is the very old but all time fresh questions of "good and evil" or "right or wrong". It is amazing that, adjudicating from scientific point of view, some scientists have maintained that for the reason of close bondage of life with science whichever of the sense of values of human beings might keep on changing but still there would be no doubt in anybody's mind about certain fundamental aims of an individual and the society. As much as, different religions have given human beings many different perceptions about right and wrong but still it is being considered that with scientific logic it is quite possible to reach at few common and definite ideological targets. For example: it is desirable to use scientific methods for eradication of hunger, improvement of health conditions, and to impart education to every human being of the World; and on these issues there should not be any difference of opinion from any humans of today. Although, any firm definition of peace or happiness is not known to anybody, but still at least little amount of peace and happiness should doubtlessly come into the life of every human being. To this end, science's grasp in our life, came carrying plenty of possibilities and promise. In this World, why the good get destroyed time and again under the pressure of evil – fall down into darkness; on that, the poets, artists, religious people have been lamenting for decades. In the end, out of frustration many intellectuals have given their verdict: the evil is permanently blended in human nature: it is never possible to alter the nature of human beings. As such human fate will never be emancipated from the curse of the evil. He will only dream of light but the darkness will return to wipe out those dreams. So, is there no hope for the human beings? It is terrifying even to think about so many of all the deep problems modern science has created for human life. Nevertheless, is there any other way but not to admit it for fact; that with even minded examination one shall find science has made us hear at the same time many words of pleasant hopes? In this discussion the types of humans, very wonderful humans whom have been imagined, whether the power of their brains, philosophy of life would be like that which would make them able to solve at ease, the present and future complexities of human society, of scarcities of necessities of human lives, of unhealthiness and malnutrition? If the evil is in human nature, then, it appears human being would become capable to gradually acquire the effective means of altering that 'nature'. Let me bring an end to this discussion with citation of one example. The problem of entity due to replacement of heart and brain has been discussed above. But it might not be such, that always the change of entity would only create a problem. May be, connecting specific portion of the brain of habitual murderer or sexually perverted person with electricity provided from outside, it would be really possible to bring such a change that as a result his behaviour might be getting expressed in a new manner. Forgetting his brutal nature, he may get transformed into a person of sweet behaviour with compassionate mind. If needed, also he may be made to totally forget the memories of his previous characteristics. In that case; would the person still remain to be the same previous person? Whether it will be proper to punish this person for his previous misdeeds? In these cases, many laws and regulations prevailing from before might have to be reconsidered. Surely, from countries to countries, human societies have to gradually find new solutions to these problems not conceived before. But more important point than that is; with new and epoch-making confidence the work should begin on topics related to human conduct and behaviour; today's poets, artists, writers, public leaders, religious preachers, intellectuals -- in a word everybody --.must take a futuristic approach. Probably, at this time this is the best reward of modern science towards life. Though the above discussion is a bit long but in some respect still it is especially incomplete; because it goes without saying that, in course of development of science so many of different types of queries and problems kept coming on the point of being raised and everyday the list of which got longer. Undoubtedly, time and again this question come alive in the minds of the scientists; whether the mystery of life is getting solved or due to creation of different problems influenced by science the mystery is getting more awful. But, perhaps the enigmatic 'sign-instructions" to wage war against incompleteness and the unknown mysteries are inscribed in the centre of the atoms of every living cell: it is definite that human beings would never want to change this instruction inscribed in the bio-cells. |
