Re: [ALOCHONA] Pictures of Dhaka or Dacca from 19th & early 20th Centuries

Dear All:

Fantastic, Superb, Awesome, Marvelous, Amazing, Wonderful, etc. etc.

Robin Khundkar has done incredible and outstanding jobs and he/she deserves credits for his/her hard workings for which we have a chance to view the century old pictures of Bangladesh today. I dare to acknowledge that I have never seen such kind of beautiful pictures of my homeland before. These pictures proof us about the realities of the then East Bengal (currently Bangladesh) of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. These pictures give me idea that Dhaka town (city today) and villages of East Bengal were modern like any other developed countries of that era. So were the moderate people of the then Bangladesh!

Robin Khundkar, you have done a great job!

Regards,

A very nice presentation/collection of pictures of what Dacca was like in the late 19th and early 20th century. See attached powerpoint

Hard to recognize the beautiful town Dacca was even in the late 1970s to the urban eyesore it has become today.

Enjoy!
