Dear Alochock: Why they have so much of wealth and how they emass so much? The only answer is they are "politicians". And by being so, can do CHORI in brought day light in front of us but leave no proof. Otherwise Hasina, Khaleda, Rowshon are worth of housewife. Courtesy New Age 3/12/08 Staff Correspondent The two former prime ministers, Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina, identified themselves as full-time politicians while former military dictator Hussein Muhammad Ershad declared himself a 'chairman and proprietor', in information they provided in nomination papers submitted for December 29 parliamentary polls.
Khaleda, the chief of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, said she was unaware of the details of the cases filed against her in the past while Hasina mentioned a total of 15 cases against her.
In the nomination form submitted to the returning officer, Khaleda claimed herself to be a 'self-educated' person, mentioned only four cases filed against after the military-backed government assumed power in January 2007. The cases were stayed in the higher court.
Ershad mentioned 40 cases against him, including conviction in a few, after his ouster from power in a popular uprising in late 1990. He, however, completed his jail terms more than five years ago.
Most of cases against Hasina were stayed in the higher court.
Ershad, also the chief of the Jatiya Party, is the richest among the three. He has assets, both moveable and immovable, of over Tk 5.28 crore while his spouse's assets are worth over Tk 10.64 crore.
He has liabilities of Tk 6.8 crore and his basic source of income is agricultural sector, investment in share and savings certificates, and cold storage business.
Ershad has shown his annual income of Tk 1,60,000 from agriculture sector, Tk 450,000 from his businesses and Tk 3,250,000 from FDR interests.
Khaleda Zia has total assets, moveable and immovable, of over Tk 3.73 crore plus 50 tolas of gold. She has Tk 3,652,845 in cash in hand.
Her annual income from house rent is Tk 523, 800 while interests from shares and savings certificates amount to Tk 773, 383.
On previous case records, the BNP chief, who filed nomination for three parliamentary constituencies, mentioned that she was unaware about the details of past cases against her but mentioned that she was acquitted in all the 'unknown' cases.
Her immovable assets include non-farming land worth about Tk 12,300 [the price at the time of procurement]. She shares one-third of two 'jointly owned' homes worth Tk 105.
Hasina, who also submitted nomination papers in three constituencies, mentioned that her prime annual income of Tk 20.8 lakh comes from shares and savings certificates followed by Tk 4.5 lakh from agriculture sector. She earns Tk 4.48 lakh per annum from house rent.
Her total asset is worth about Tk 3.5 crore while her spouse has Tk 9,566,726. |
