Re: [ALOCHONA] Beware of Indian Propaganda on BDR Mutiny

Alochok Shabbir Ahmed:

Thank you for your post, and the questions you pose for the undying defender of Pakistan's defense.

On a separate note, am I the only person who finds Lt. Col. Shams' story totally bogus? I saw his interview on TV, and someone who just saw all his colleagues and friends slaughtered, he showed no signs of emotional trauma. Instead, he kept repeating his story and kept showing the media the little band-aid he put on his stomach, apparently a scratch from a bullet. Now, I am no scientist, but basic theories of statistics tell me that if the BDR thugs opened fire on everyone, and then made sure that everyone is dead after indiscriminate killing, it is next to impossible that Mr. Shams just managed to escape with a bullet scratch and some remarkable stories. He is over 6' tall and over 15 stones, and it is unbelievable that he could hide behind the bathroom comode so that he can't be found. He seemed too coherent, too coached for someone who just witnessed mass murder. Normal people, or even trained soldiers are not devoid of emotions.

The second issue that I find unbelievable is that according to Mr. Shams, the BDR thugs opened fire and started killing everyone. Yet, from the relatives of those slained, several official called their spouses and even relatives to let them know that they are being held hostage. Even Mr. Shakil called his wife to warn her that he has been taken hostage at gun point. Either story must be true, and I believe that the relatives are telling the truth. I think, and this is purely speculation, that in the Darbar Hall, everyone was held hostage, and every hour the murderers kept killing the officers. There was no indiscriminate brush fire, in my opinion. Rather, those thugs killed officers in groups, slowly and deliberately.

Just my two cents.

Mr. Munshi:

Your questions show your concern over the terrible incidences that took place in BDR Headquarter. It appears that you are searching for clues on what happened. You have come up with a number of questions. It would be good if you please add the following questions to your list:

(1)   Why did not BNP-JI MPs/leaders show their concerns and go to visit near the spot on the days of the incidence? Gen. (retd.) Ershad, Mr. Rashed Khan Menon, and many government party leaders went near the spot. What were the BNP-JI leaders doing in those two days?

(2)   Some reporters were trying to contact Mrs. Khaleda Zia on the first day of the crisis to get her reactions/concerns. She was not available for the whole day. She was not in her house.. Where was she on that day of national crisis?

(3)   Many political leaders were seen in TV expressing their reactions within a few hours of the occurrence of the incidence. Why did it take two days for Mrs. Zia to show up and express her concerns? Was she waiting and watching to see if it turns out to be a Sepai-Janata type biplob (revolution) ?

(4)   Similar tragic incidences took place in the past. Who were the beneficiaries of those killings? Which quarter glorify the killings of many army officers that took place in the first week of November 1975? Have the beneficiaries of the past killings tried to repeat the same?

(5)   It has been reported that a number of groups of people belonging to BNP-JI organized processions chanting slogans "BDR-Janata Bhai Bhai" while some army officers and their family members were in danger inside the BDR Headquarter. Why did they try to encourage the killers like a few people that did the same in 1975?

(6)   A Pakistani envoy came just a few days ago to Bangladesh. He commented against trying the war criminals while all the people of Bangladesh (except a few Razakars and their sympathizers) are eager to see the war criminals get proper punishment. The present army chief supported the trial of the war criminals a number of times. Is there any motive of Pakistan to save the war criminals by destabilizing the armed forces?

(7)   It is now revealed by one survivor (Lieutenant Colonel Shams) that he saw a civilian pick-up van loaded with arms. During BNP-JI rule, a ship load of arms were smuggled into Bangladesh. It was reported that BNP-JI high-ups were involved in the smuggling of the arms. Can we assume that the same groups of people are providing arms to the criminals to destabilize the government? Who planned for grenade attack on 21st August to kill the entire leadership of Awami league? Is not the planner a BNP leader and a minister under Khaleda-Nizami government?

(8)   After every bomb attack in last 8/10 years, a group of people come out and try to portray it as an act of India and Awami League.. Eventually, it was revealed that the evil acts were done by BNP-JI leaders/members and their militant fundamentalist partners. Should not RAB/Police investigate and bring charges against these people for their efforts to cover-up and ultimately save the criminals?

(9)   The notoriety of ISI in destabilizing the governments by terrorism in many Southeast Asian countries was portrayed in both eastern and western media. In 1971, Pakistan army killed/tortured many members of Bengali army officers/soldiers and intellectuals with the help of Razakars/collaborat ors. Have they tried to take revenge again for electing the alliance under the leadership of Awami League? Is there any connection between ISI and the killings in BDR Headquarter?

(10)                       In the past, BNP gave indemnity to killers and gave rewards for killing Bangabandhu, four national leaders, and many others including army officers. Did not a group of people conspire to kill and later were rewarded by BNP? Have not they tried recently to give reward to a killer named Abdus Salam Pintu by nominating him for the last election? Are they trying to destabilize the country by giving the hints of rewards to the killers?

The following views expressed in the following news report originally came from Indian sources such as SAAG (which is sponsored by RAW) or directly from Indian intelligence as appeared on IBN Live website –

http://ibnlive. in.com/news/ bangladesh- rifles-mutiny- ends-mystery- remains/86374- 2.html

Why are Bangladesh nationals using information manufactured by Indian intelligence? Did no one see the BDR Jawans chanting Joy Bangla as they were engaged in their rampage and killing? Is this the slogan of Islamist fundamentalists? Finally why did India propose to send a Peace Mission to protect the Calcutta-Dhaka Friendship train without even being requested? What would happen if we offered them transit? We can expect they would not need to offer us assistance they would simply send their troops into Bangladesh since we now have an open border after the revolt. We also have information that BSF were sending SMS messages to the BDR jawans during the mutiny. Although this has still to be verified the indications are that Indian intelligence and their human assets in Bangladesh are involved in propagating disinformation and propaganda to misdirect public attention from the real source of the rebellion. I find it utterly disgraceful and appalling that after such a tragedy our own citizens would participate in this Indian game. They should be calling for unity but their acts speak of disunity.

Anti-liberation forces instigate BDR-men to attack army officers

Staff Correspondent

The Bangladesh Today - February 28, 2009

An organised gang influenced by anti-liberation forces in a preplanned way instigated BDR members to launch barbaric attacks on army officials and killed them intentionally in a move to create an anarchic situation in the country.

This allegation was made by participants at a discussion meeting organised by Ekattur er Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee at WVA auditorium in the capital on Friday afternoon. Political leaders, lawyers and professors took part in the discussion presided over by National Professor Kabir Chowdhury.

The participants said after the take over of power by Awami League-led 14-party alliance government, the trial of war criminals has been demanded by the people and that has already been approved by the parliament. Under this circumstance, an organised gang influenced by anti-liberation force instigated the BDR members to create an anarchic situation in the country in order to foil the proposed trial of war criminals.

They said good numbers of fundamentalists were appointed at different significant sectors of the country during the tenure of BNP-led four-party alliance government. Now they are trying to destroy the mission and vision of the government including the trial of war criminals so that it does not take any steps against the war criminals..

Barrister Tania Amir said in order to create countrywide anarchic situation to foil the proposed trial of war criminals, an organised armed gang influenced by anti-liberation forces launched attack on army officials and killed them intentionally. They also violated their wives during the attack which lost happened in 1971.

"To keep the situation under control, our Primer Minister Sheikh Hasina announced amnesty but the amnesty will not cover of murderer and violations. Trial of killers and violators must be held under existing procedures," she said.

Workers party president also MP Rashed Khan Menon said soon after taking decision over trial of war criminals, a certain group are becoming very active to create anarchic situation throughout the country. "We will have to take steps against this vested quarter carefully, because conspirators might instigate and create more untoward situations anytime," he said.

Kabir Chowdhury said soon after announcing amnesty, the situation came under control but it does not mean that the mutineers will be freed from criminal offence. Trial is must for killers and violators. "The government will have to reform the function of BDR and different intelligence departments immediately and take measures for ensuring trial of mutineers," he said.
