Dear Mr. Anwar,
I do not think that the communal harmony of West Bengal was disrupted
because of the presence of Taslima. She has been the guest of the
state since quite a while now. What triggered off those riots was the
fact that many of the people who had to face violence in Nandigram
professed to the Islamic faith. This may have been unintentional but
the fact is that this happened. The presence of Taslima just became
another stick for the communal forces to beat the state government
with. It is very unfortunate and I am sorry that a guest of the
country was treated in such a cavalier fashion...forced to move from
one place to another.
