ACC quizzes Dhaka mayor
United News of Bangladesh . Dhaka 28/2/08

The Dhaka City Corporation mayor, Sadeque Hossain Khoka, one of the corrupt suspects who submitted his wealth statement at the directive of the Anti-Corruption Commission, was Wednesday questioned by an inquiry officer regarding the statement.

A team, led by inquiry officer Samsul Alam, went to Nagar Bhaban at 12:30pm where they questioned the mayor for an hour about the wealth statement. The team also recorded Khoka’s statement.

But Khoka, also the Dhaka City BNP president, told the news agency that no such questioning took place on Wednesday.

The DCC mayor, one of the 35 corrupt suspects appeared on fourth list published by the ACC, was issued with a notice on November 18, 2007 directing him to come up with his wealth account.

He complied with the ACC directive by submitting his statement on December 6 showing that he and his family have 11 houses and flats, eight plots, lands and Tk about 5.5 crore among other assets.

Later, in a press briefing, Khoka claimed that the commission did not give proper descriptions of his assets.
