Dear Reader
Kaurab ONLINE began in 1998 – the first Indian language webzine dedicated to Bengali Poetry.
The number of poetry webzines back then in the days of internet infancy could be counted on fingers.
Our intention, however, wasn’t so much to be a first, but to use this new found medium to build a
private space for poetry and parallel literature, primarily in Bengali, but with a deep-drawn desire to
build bridges with parallel literature throughout the world.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of our journey. We promise to publish more issues this year than
usual and focus more on what the Bengali literary world knows as “hardcore Kaurab”.
