If we continue to believe that we can't stop war, then we won't stop it.
Saying that a country has no friends, only interests, is a way to
ensure that the people accept that phrase as real and continue to
support wars for interests. We see this happening throughout the
globe. Interests are always put before human rights.
But, what If? What if leaders decided not to quote leaders of the
past as gospel? What if we decided to say what we truly mean? What if
we actually did what we say we are going to do? What if words were
more than words? What if they actually meant something?
In my view, there can be change because the self interest theory has
to be sold. If it were really true that countries only have
interests, they would not have to sell that idea veneered with human
rights and democracy?
