[mukto-mona] Mohamad Kohail and the Green Children

Hello,
Hope you are keeping well. Today, I am sending this mail for a couple
of reasons ..first to protest an unfair sentence that Mohamad Kohail received on
the 3rd of March, 2008 from the Saudi Arabian Court and also to let you know
about the Green Foundation.

We live in a lopsided world. While we have human rights and justice for all in
North American countries and other developed nations there are countries where
innocent  human beings are being beheaded for no fault of their own. You must
have heard of a guy named Despres (pls click here) getting away with a a couple
of First degree murders in Fredericton, NB. He was found guilty but not
responsible for any criminal act because he was psychiatrists felt he was
mentally unstable. Despres got away with a couple of  murders and whether it
was fair or not is quite subjective. What's happening in Saudi Arabia and other
Middle Eastern countries is however a stark contrast to the above scenario and
would be only be befitting for the Dark Ages in my opinion. Women are being
oppressed and stoned to death for trivial mistakes ( in the eye of the layman) and
innocent people are being beheaded for no fault of their own. Mohamad Kohail
is a victim of such an unjust legal system. Apparently, he was involved in a
school yard fight after Friday prayers with a Saudi Arabian kid, Hiraki. An
exchange of a few blows resulted in Hiraki's death but it was not intentional
and Kohail was neither aware of  his opponent's heart condition nor did he intend
to kill him. Unfortunately, the court handed him a death penalty without even
hearing his side of the story. We are all saddened by the untimely death of Hiraki
and extend our heartfelt sympathies to his relatives and close ones but it eludes
any sense of justice and morality to hand Mr Kohail a death penalty without even
a fair trial. Please sign the petition below and help save the life of an innocent kid
by spreading awareness and appealing to international groups for human rights. I
sincerely hope that common sense and justice will prevail in the end.

Finally, I would like to share another story of a couple of young philanthropists
who took it upon themselves to make an effort to fight global poverty. What do
they have? It is their sheer passion for life and goodwill and they are using their
talents to spread awareness of Dr Yunus Microcredit  among all  The duo, Milla
Sunde and Tom Bevan are both extremely talented and they have traveled to
several countries spreading awareness among people about how Dr Yunus'
economic ideas can be utilized to alleviate global poverty. I found them to
possess three cons: confidence in their own ability, conviction in their efforts
and pursuit, and a conscience that led to such selfless acts. Believe it or not,
they are campaigning for Bangladesh too. Please render your support to "The
Green Foundation" in whatever way you can. It is up to the activists at the
grassroots level to make a world a better place than it is today.

Best Regards,
Soumen
