I am too "small" to be a citizen of the world. Good for Socrates! I'm not Socrates. I do not believe in internationalism. I like Nationalism. I have taken oath as a citizen of USA. I've allegiance for USA. I promote what's good for USA, which many of our recent immigrants do not. They are citizen of a foreign country.
As far as my country of origin: she is always in my dream. Every time I close my eyes, I see her; I see faces of my folks, I left behind. I cry when they are in trouble and in distress. I try to help them in my own way, when I can. I vigorously oppose when the ruling powers and their thugs oppress my people, and use them as the political tools. In spite of all my emotional feelings about my country of origin, I will not go against the interest of my adopted country, where I will spend my life with my children. I cannot betray her trust in me.
By my identity, I mean cultural identity. I want to preserve it as much as possible. Some people cannot distinguish between cultural identity and religious identity. When religious identity dominates ones life, it often turns into religious fundamentalism, which is the worst thing that can happen to a human being. Once it happens, there is no point of return.
