A couple of rumors (probably historical facts):
1. In one public meeting he characterized Sheikh Mujib in the following way: Majibar is a "sonar chhele."
2. In another public meeting (probably when Ayub was the ruler) he was mentioning how commodity prices were getting out of the reach of common people. Then he paused for a moment and then said pointing his finger to his Secretary Jadu Mia sitting beside him, "I don't know, however, whether price of alcoholic beverages has gone up, but, I am sure Jadu keeps track of that." There was a roar of laughter among the audience.
3 It was well known he was a heavy drinker. Many people used to say that Jadu Mia was "glass mate" of Ayub Khan. In politics he was never a respectable man. Good people took him as a suspicious character. Interestingly, Jadu Mia was one of those abandoned leaders (many of them were anti-liberation forces on whom Ziaur Rahman greatly relied to consolidate his power. Zia eventually made him Prime Minister.
