Linguist Rashad Ullah Speaks to VOA About His Dissertation, Career

Rashad Ullah
Rashad Ullah is a Bangladeshi-American linguist specializing in semantics and South Asian languages. Born in Illinois and raised in Louisiana, Rashad considers Bangla his mother tongue and has studied it extensively.

Rashad recently moved down to the Washington, D.C. area from Connecticut to work as a Senior Linguist at the Language Research Center, a division of McNeil Technologies, Inc, in Hyattsville, Maryland, where he works on developing pedagogical materials for
the Bangla language. He is also currently finishing his Ph.D. in theoretical linguistics from Yale University. His dissertation investigates properties of indefinite pronouns. Describing patterns in the Bangla language is a major part of his work.

Rashad's other interests are in the sociology of language, psycholinguistics, and language teaching.
