URGENT APPEAL
Dear All (who are addressed directly or in other medium) :Please help save the life of Dr Abhijit Guha who is a neuro surgeon of international fame based in Toronto- in the immediate search for a bone marrow match. Dr Guha has done much for the extended community of his patients, friends and acquaintances, as well as through his pioneering research work in his own & related fields of medicine & surgery.Now it's our turn to try and do something in his time of need. Your urgent efforts will increase his chances of making a recovery and, to continue with his research, diagnostic and patient care work in Canada, US and elsewhere.
Urgent Appeal to Canadians & Americans of South Asian Origin for Bone Marrow Donation from the North American Community for Dr.Abhijit Guha, the 51 year old internationally known Neuro Surgeon of Toronto and University of Toronto Professor. Dr Guha who as late as July 5, 2008 gave his time generously in the 28th North American Bengali Conference in Toronto, talking on various medical and aftercare necessities for the 6000 delegates from Canada and the USA, suddenly fell ill- and needs help of North Americans of South Asian origin for the treatment of his life threatening acute Leukemia at the crest of his medical profession.
We now have the responsibility of find the right matching Bone Marrow donor to save his life. Please also refer to The Toronto Star issue of August 27,2008, page A14, where the Staff Reporter Nick Kyonka presented a short background of the illustrious Dr. Abhijit Guha.

All able bodied members- male and female- aged between 20 and 50 are preferred (or older persons in sound health) are required for this donation to find the prospective match quickly.
After registration "Onematch.ca" or "marrow.org" will send a kit at home requesting a saliva sample for the donor to return back by post. Once the procedure of preliminary matching exercise is complete, selected donors would be informed for the next step of responsibilities of the donors. If immediately called for, the selected matched donor for the recipient will have to spare a few hours of a day in the lab to recover from the process of extraction of the bone marrow, under the strict supervision of the web site(s) to safeguard the willing donor. The whole process does not at all affect the health of the donor but he or she comes out as the savier of the precious life of the recipient.
Through the registration all records will be kept stored in a pool for eventual use of other patients in the community.
Please act now and, circulate this news through your readers, students, associates, friends and contacts. The number of potential South Asian donors known at this moment is very limited. So please register now to save the life of this good man & a famed Neurosurgeon at the University of Toronto.
