A WATERSHED MOMENT

Humans are copiers, lying in wait
For each subsequent positive vision.
Images of sugar plums, tête-à-tête,
And the next 'momentous' decision.
Visions are fantasy, secure in a dream.
Quintessence not really what matters!
Write them on paper, visions supreme,
Though life all around is in tatters!
Passing o'er details, a human's ilk must
Probe inner precincts of action,
Before life is banished from dust unto dust
Lost in spurious waves of abstraction?
Subservient to a new vision and goal,
And by mode of perception reaction,
Inexplicable like the dear mysteries of old,
And guaranteed non satisfaction.
Jonathan Swift in Gulliver's tales
Scribed non human species – Yahoos,
Mortal ineptitude swept in by gales
And spurred on by human taboos.
The Yahoos painted a picture so fine
Of reckless, destructive intent,
Of resistance to changes of any one kind,
But how quickly the forces are spent.
Fall back from a surfeit of reality
Which is not quite an honourable fare.
Clasp a White Knight rising out of the sea
And a vision of change that is rare.
The nature of Yahoos is not apt enough
To describe the denouncers today
Detach from the melee; it is merely fluff!
Arise Knight and now have your say!
The fusion of humans within the divine
Sustains and entreats men to plea
For less overstatement and words so unkind,
Rendered safe and for eternity.
The beguiling reverie of the sweet dream
Becomes an awareness abstraction.
Changes envisaged can be what they seem
When visions move forward in action.
