Re: [ALOCHONA] Re: Pls listen carefully & take decision............

Mr. Cyrus,
You said that our government has not learned from the history when it comes to terrorism or massacre.  I agree with you partially. It's not the government who should learn, it's the people of BD that needs to be educated.  May be we have a learning disability.   It all began when Bhondobondhu came to power.  He started the culture of government level corruption by stealing poor people's blankets and food.  He introduced massacre by introducing rokhi bahini.  BAL became psychotic and blood thirsty because of inexperience in running a government.  They thought that only way to rule a country is use of scare tactics.  By killing and torturing the political opponents BAL tried to establish BAKSAL.  Their tyranny ended with the destruction of the government by one of their very own, Khondokar Mustak.  That day people cheered and came out on the street to celebrate.  Bangladesh was liberated once again.

We all experienced that whenever BAL came to power, people of this poor nation received nothing but loss of life, property and dignity.  And people did not learn from their experience.  Also, BAL and its supporters have this typical subservient mentality.  Always looking for a master to serve.  Someone who is powerful and foreign.   I have never seen current government asking for advice from any African nation.  Its always been white people or ... Indian.  Well India is special.  To show clearly who the real master is, obedient BAL made a statue of their late leader and worship it.  At least, Its better then the penis of shiv.  Every party official that received an appointment to a government job must physically go in front of the statue and show their respect.  I heard that before forming the government, some ambitious party official began their day by first washing the feet of the statue.  How low can we go?  Even from a secular point of view this is disgusting.  Can't they all pray for his soul?  There was a strong rumor that BAL has some new Khodoker Mustak in the making.  Prime Minister successfully controlled the situation.  BDR mutiny is an ongoing saga of the continuing brutality of this government.  I personally hope that the culture of murder and torture that began by BAL will end and never be repeated in future.

Mr. Jamil Ahmed, I completely agree that our government should develop its own capacity to investigate such matters. But the reality is that we don't have such expertise. When it comes to terrorism, massacre, and armed forces, precedence matters. Apparently, our governments have not learned from our history.

Secondly, Iraq and us are not the same platform. Completely two different scenarios. We are not in an all out war internally (at least yet). However, I must point out that in the case of Iraq, it was CIA and other U.S. intelligence agencies that miscalculated, misinformed, and abused the information. FBI, as a domestic organization, is not involved in such international matters. It is beyond their jurisdiction. Similarly, Scotland Yard is not in the business of cross-border diplomatic and military issues. Organizations like FBI, Scotland Yard, and Interpol are better equipped and experienced in hunting down criminals and forensic investigation. It would be good to have them on board, provided that our own law enforcement takes the lead in this investigation.

Lastly, I think you are wrong in saying that it is not easy to hide in Bangladesh. There are plenty of criminals who are still missing and our law enforcement has a tough time tracking them among 130 million people. Besides, these criminals don't need to hide. We are a remarkable country where you can be a war criminal and be elected to the parliament, be a military dictator and kill innocent civilians and be elected president, be a loan defaulter and become a public representative, steal millions from people and be respected as a national hero.....I can go on. I am sure, just like the past, these criminals would be found, and only the lower order would be punished. The masterminds would probably get cushy postings in foreign countries, shielded from extradition and criminal persecution.

how could you make me sure that they are not involved in it ?
All the  big name people were wrong in Iraq on purpose to achieve a goal.
We should learn to do it ourself. It's not that easy to hide in Bangladesh
with so much people around, unless you cross the border.

Mr. Mahmud, you are confusing patriotism and nationalistic pride with global cooperation. We live in a very connected, globalized society, and no country can do anything by itself. Even the mighty U.S. needs help from British Intelligence, Saudi Military, and lots of other places to carry on its assault against Al-Qaeda. There is nothing wrong with seeking help. This event is unprecedented, and we have very little expertise in investigating such large scale massacre or terrorism. However, Scotland Yard and the FBI do this for a living. I thought it was rather prudent to bring in those two respected institutions. Until we develop our own capacity to prevent and investigate acts of terror such as this, we shouldn't let our false sense of patriotism get in the way of fact finding.

Thanks,
Cyrus

Why do we need help from outsiders in every crisis?  Is this an official policy of a certain political party officials and their supporters?  What kind of example are we establishing for our young generation and what emage are we creating for ourselves to the world?  Even the media runs to the white ambassadors with qestions on our internal matters.  If we treat these entities like bongobondhu' s replica than we are not worthy of living in a free nation.

Dear Ejaz - what are you talking about. You need to get a grip and hold your personal /prejudices & views on Hasina and Khaleda until this tragic event is played out.
There is a lot of disinformation floating around. Wild speculations from RAW to ISI, allegations of corruption, to everything but the kitchen sink.
It is is important that an elected govt & all future govts be allowed to serve out its term. You and I may not like dynastic politics  or these two women. But there is nothing we can do about it. they have been elected by the people in a fair election as vouched by impartial observers. I dont believe in the politics of assination or forced removal. The former because it is immoral and the latter because it unproductive and makes things worse.
I realize that Army''s emotions are naturally raw with such death and destruction. But they need to be prfessional and it is the responsibility of senor officers to calm their men. If they cant do it in times of crisis when are they going to do it.
I am glad Sahara is out of the commission of inquiry but to reconstitute it with Army people, the same people who are going to look for absconding mutineers and also participate in summary trials is not a good idea and is fraught with danger for the country in the long term. it is like making them Judge Jury and Executioner.
What we can do is insist on an impartial inquiry headed by people of unimpeachable reputation. if such people cannot found at home we can get them from abroad. Mary Robinson (Frmr UN Human rights Commissioner & President of Ireland) or Justice Goldstone of South Africa come to mind.
I hope we come to a peaceful and just end to this crisis.
We all need to do our bit!
Robin
