Hello all
As some of you may know, an exciting challenge to the blasphemy law
has arisen. The National Secular Society has sent out a message about
it which can be viewed here - http://www.mediawatchwatch.org.uk/?p=895
- among other places. Evan Harris, MP for Oxford West and Abingdon,
will attempt to amend the Criminal Justice and Immigration Bill this
Wednesday to abolish the offense, and he has wide support from
religious and secular bodies.
The NSS is asking people who support the repeal to contact their MPs,
and recommends this site - http://www.mediawatchwatch.org.uk/?p=895 -
to do so (although you could just find their home pages on Google if
you'd prefer). I strongly recommend doing so: There is a real chance
to achieve this historic change and send a message out in favour of
free expression and the end of religious privilege.
