[vinnomot] Advisers Resignation: Expected out of Unexpected

I am not relaxed yet but undoubtedly I am happier then yesterday! Especially seeing the disappearance of Jamaat leader superfluous loquacious Barrister. Moinul Hosein and dim-witted Godmother Geeteara Safia.

Barrister. Moinul's departure was expected. He was seen as representing mischievous sprite among caretaker government. Barrister. Moinul Hosein's outrageous, inconsistent, and dubious comments on charged political issue were seen as his personal vindictive grudge against political entities and its leaders. His cunning way of doing things, his sneakiness in all public matters, shrewd mentality made his departure well deserved and welcomed. Especial his recent remarks in favor of his party line (Jamaat-e-Islami) about war crime proved once again his alleged affiliation with Jamaat and war criminals are potentially true.

I hope government will investigate all of his wrongdoing and bring him to justice. There is allegation that as law minister he tried to influence long standing murder case which took place in his Daily Ittefaq Bhovhon where he is among the suspect list.

Government and ACC should intensely investigate allegation against Barrister. Moinul of abusing his advisory power to grab Ittefaq and other properties belonging to his family members.

What Moinul going to do now after he has been FORCED OUT, watch this Dancing Rajakar video to have some clue. Video Link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=6g7ifEEXOkE

Geeteara become part of this government definitely not because of her qualification but as a member of Dr. Fakhruddin family dynasty. She was not just a complete failure on her job but a disaster. Her prescribed way brought disaster especially for jute industry. On top of that, last quarter of the past year she and her husband came to people's attention as an illegal landgrave and received the well deserved title as GODMOTHER. She's complete failure dealing with ongoing fertilizer crisis was undisputable. On top, she's comments about widely reported fertilizer crisis and mismanagement as media creation was just tip of the iceberg of her problems.

About Tapan Chowdhury whom I always considered unfit for this position. His departure proved position of adviser/minister is not a post comparable to Executive Director of any private enterprise for profit with no accountability. Government is not a business enterprise and it should not run insensitively. Sanity and susceptibility to demand/cry of commoners is what one need to understand while governing. Undoubtedly cry of the commoners was not understandable for a rich person like him.

About the resignation of Mej.General Motiur Rahman I have nothing much to say. He was probably not doing well with his job or the backers of the government may want more powerful person to represent them in the government to bring their agenda into focus. His ministry did not do very well managing Hajj trip this year, otherwise I think he is a decent person.

It's not just the action but the intention behind this change is more important. We have to watch carefully in coming days to observe the implementation of that intension. If this has been done to reflect commoners demand obviously we should welcome it. But mere change in the cabinet will not do any good if the government fails to keep up with its promise to follow its own roadmap to establish an elected representative government by performing their constitutional mandatory obligation of holding a free, fair and transparent election.

People of Bangladesh are eagerly waiting for publicly stated roadmap to be fulfilled as soon as possible even before the timetable scheduled for end of December. If they do abide by the roadmap without any string attached they will be hailed by the people and the history of Bangladesh. But if they try to manipulate the election and use government institution to carry their hidden agenda then surely their fall is forthcoming. Caretaker government should always bear in mind the path to hell is paved with good intention, hope they will stay away from walking toward hell

I strongly feel government should come forward to provide their wealth statement for public review without been asked. This is their moral obligation before they ask others to do so. Failure to do so will imply they have things to hide. The outgoing advisers should be asked to make their statement available dating prior to their join in January 2007 to the date of their expiration of January 2008.

Marking their first anniversary, I hope caretaker government will comprehend nation's aspiration for a free and fair transparent election. To comply with the roadmap emergency has to go without any delay. Government needs to reach to all political parties and encourage them to do the needful for a much needed reform, and to that a political dialog is a must. It is emergency government's responsibility to create and enhance atmosphere where political parties can take their own initiative to do the needful after consulting their own base without fear of arrest or undue harassment. Government must reevaluate its compunction relation with political parties and refrain from birdcage them self or make attempt to birdcage political parties. To succeed the overwhelming task ahead, they must shore up support from all walks of life including political parties.

In the name of rule of law government must not make vindictive attempts to imprison political dissidents. Rule of law is not a question of mere implementation but a Justice Must Be Seen To Be Done. The caretaker Government should not only be independent but also seen to be independent.

Thanks
