Re: [mukto-mona] Saudi prince offers Israelis a vision of peace

WRT http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/46240

What Israel "must" do and what it does are two different issues. There has been nothing common between the two so far. The misadventure in Lebanon did not prevent a bombing run subsequently, a few months ago in Syria, at a facility that the Israelis suspected had been used to store North Korean nuclear equipment.

No matter what the US does at the moment, its options as far as Saudi Arabia are concerned seem to have run out. The Saudi displeasure with the US in Iraq and their open support of the Fallujah uprising which was brutally crushed before the US worked out an agreement with the Anbar Sheikhs is a point in evidence of this. And the Saudis seem to have made their own attempts at taking a foreign policy in the region and beyond that does not fall in with US aspirations in recent months, though the results have been unspectacular. It was widely reported in the media, for example, that the Saudi attempt at speaking to Iran had culminated in failure when President Ahmadinajad visited Saudi Arabia last year and left two days early and without making a joint statement along with Abdullah, something that is the norm at any summit. That the summit itself took place was unbelievable - the US did not approve of it and the displeasure in Washington was public knowledge.

Also, two days ago, India launched an Israeli spy satellite which the Israelis themselves admitted was going to be used to spy on Iran exclusively - there was an uproar in the Indian media yesterday over this. To think that any amount of prodding would have Israel enter into dialogue with any nation is little more than fanciful thinking. Politics and ground realities do not rest on hope, though it is to be wished that peaceful hopes would, indeed, prevail under all circumstances. There is not going to be any peaceful Israel-Pakistan- Saudi Arabia movement to promote amity and such thinking is little more than a wishful pipedream.

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?
