When I read Mr. Guha's write-up, I started to laugh so much that my
family members thought that I needed psychiatric help. I am a
Darwinist par excellence! There is no reason to speculate that I
would turn up like `Al-Mahmood',`Anwar Zahid' or even 'Farhad Mazhar.'
Mr. Guha hardly knows me. Avijit met me in person in November 2007
while I was visiting Atlanta. We have exchanged ideas and he knows
my "love" for Abrahamanic religion.
Unfortunately, Mr. Guha lives in bi-polar world - Muslim world or
Hindu world. Since I uttered some harsh word when I saw a bout of
Hinduism in Dr. Jiten Roy and Mr. Guha, I automatically became a
suspect. These two gentlemen immediately came to conclusion that I
am a closet Muslim.
For Mr. Guha's information, I am a true secular-humanist. I will
always defend minority rights for the people of Bangladesh. We
should not only defend the Hindus but also the Chakmas, Murongs,
Santals, Garos, Khasias, Manipuris, and other minorities. I almost
cried when I visited Chittagong Hill Tracts in 2001 where the
original people (Chakmas, Murongs, etc) were marginalized by the
incoming Muslim folks from Barisal, Faridpur, etc.
Mr. Guha is rest assured that I will always be with the minorities.
I would like to request Mr. Guha and Dr. Jiten Roy to become involved
in Mukto-mona. I do not carry the Muslim baggage with me.
Similarly, we should expect them not to carry their Hindu baggage to
this forum. They both knew that Mukto-mona is a forum for liberals.
Still then, they decided to probe the minds of Mukto-monas by asking
them to test whether one is a liberal or conservative.
