RE: [mukto-mona] Life & Death -Jalal-uddin Rumi

WRT: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mukto-mona/message/44123

Dr.Irfani,

Thank you for remembering Rumi. You have refreshed my memory and touched my emotions.

Many years before I read a novel'Isamoti" written by
Bibhutibhusan Bondopaddhaya. He wrote about an old deserted graveyard by the
bank of the river Isamoti in Bengal. The graveyard came
close to the river due to continued erosion and now many of its graves are
devoured by the river current and there was one old dilapidated grave was touching
the water whose headstone was being washed by the river current. The writer
visualized the deceased person inside who lived, played in his/her mothers lap,
loved some one, saw dreams of eternity and vanished thus taken shelter in the
womb of time, now plays with the stream of water and found pleasure in
solitude. Is there a silent song in the stream? Is there a rhythm in the
eternity? Why life so rich and musical becomes so still when it reaches the
horizon? Did Macbeth saw life in its realities otherwise why he lamented 'Life
is a tale told by an idiot full of sound and fury signifying nothing?

The story of life and death is a fascinating one. From the
first cry to the last sigh life is a wonderful journey which only makes us
generous and showers with wisdom. Life is like a river starting from the high
mountains travelling through the plains and eventually embraces the sea to go
into the oblivion. The end story of life is a solid silence. Life is a
perpetual poetry with toils, tears and memories. Faiz Ahmed Faiz wrote,

bahut milaa na milaa zi.ndagii se Gam kyaa haimataa-e-dard baham hai to besh-o-kam kyaa hai ham ek umr se vaaqif hai.n ab na samajhaaoke lutf kyaa hai mere meharabaa.N sitam kyaa hai kare na jag me.n alaav to sher kis maqasadkare na shahar me.n jal-thal to chashm-e-nam kyaa hai ajal ke haath ko_ii aa rahaa hai paravaanaa na jaane aaj kii feharist me.n raqam kyaa hai sajaao bazm Gazal gaao jaam taazaa karobahut sahii Gam-e-getii sharaab kam kyaa hai Bengali poet Jibanananda Das visualized life like this.
