[mukto-mona] Invitation to first NRB conference

Invitation to the "First Non Resident Bangladeshi (NRB/PBO) Conference-2007" Decmebr 27-29

December 5, 2007

Dear Friends

Many Bangladeshi's are contributing through direct or indirect participation in the socio-economic development of the country. However the opportunities and scopes of participation are very limited. With a stable political environment, our country can encourage the NRBs to contribute to their beloved motherland by offering investment opportunities, providing them with good job placements, support them in research, education, technology transfer and other developmental works.

In order to create opportunities to contribute to the development of the country, we need a platform for NRBs so that they  can exercise their valuable thoughts and provide expert opinion regarding to various developing programs. In creating the platform, we need to identify the NRBs looking to participate in the socio-economic development of the country, getting to know their country of origin and also looking for the opportunities to come back to their beloved motherland. Scholars Bangladesh has been doing research for the last 10 years and has created and maintained a database of many NRB scholars the globe.  Many people in the past have tried to organize a conference for NRB in order to materialize this dream. Inspired by their efforts and activities our organization Scholars Bangladesh has attempted this modest effort to hold a NRB conference. The first NRB Conference 2007 is a culmination of all these efforts.

"First Non Resident Bangladeshi (NRB/PBO) Conference-2007" is to be held in December 27, 28 and 29 this year at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel. Already many Non Resident Scholars have given their consent to participate at the conference and share their ideas. Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed Honorable Chief Adviser of the Non-Party Caretaker Government of People's Republic of Bangladesh will inaugurate the session. The present Government of Bangladesh has kindly offered support to make this seminar a starting point for the NRB's to participate in the national programs. The NRB Conference 2007 will feature 20 seminars on 33 national and international issues including economics, development, information technology, agriculture, human resources and overseas employment, disaster management, medical science, environment, energy, security, textile and garments industry. The conference can create a scope for establishing a platform for the Bangladeshi scholars either living at home or abroad who can collectively make strategies and help in the development process of Bangladesh the way Malaysia and India are using the talents of their non-resident scholars and professionals. There will also be representation of related government and non government officials at the seminars. The conference will also incorporate Exhibition of Photography and Paintings of NRB. Publication Ceremony of the NRB authors will also be held at the conference. Scholars Bangladesh is also organizing Career Fair. At the Closing Ceremony of the three day Conference Scholars Bangladesh will award five NRB Scholars and five resident Bangladeshi Scholars a "Scholars of the Year" for their contribution.

The target of "First Non Resident Bangladeshi (NRB/PBO) Conference-2007" is to build a bridge between the Scholars at home and abroad. NRB Conference 2007 will focus on important national interest and this huge event requires wide and spontaneous involvement from every sector to make it a great success. Together we can change our world of tomorrow. We believe now is the time to go forward and build a better and prosperous Bangladesh.

The first NRB conference is launched by resident Bangladeshi coordinators to organize the world wide NRBs.
